In WPA, links are generally (with the exceptions of some chunks) between
433-435 MHz, 438-442 MHz, 445-447 MHz, on the few of the 222 MHz
frequencies left, or on 900 MHz.

Your area may (and probably WILL) vary.

You say you looked at *A* bandplan. Was it the one for your state? Yours
clearly shows the link segments.

Looking at YOUR bandplan (IN), I see:
(source: <http://www.ircinc.org/bandplan.htm> )

223.640 - 223.700 - Links and Control

433.000 - 435.000 - Auxiliary and Repeater Links

438.000 - 444.000 - ATV Repeater Input and FM Repeater Links
(I bet the links only go to 442 MHz)

445.000 - 447.000 - Auxiliary and Control Links, Simplex, FM Repeater
Inputs and Outputs (local option)

927.000 - 928.000 - FM Simplex and Links *

* Note that in many areas, part of this spectrum is being reallocated to
FM repeater outputs.

Also note that the '* note' and the 'I bet' comment I added.

So, I guess yours is very much like WPA's. Looks like there is lots of
space for links. I would recommend the 433-435 MHz segment if you have
access to equipment that works there. If not, perhaps the 445-447 MHz
segment is more attractive to you. Although, that part of the band is
not as stable as the 433-435 MHz segment. Many areas are putting
repeaters from 440-450 continuous.
