Most DTMF pads have a chip that will do 4 rows and 4 columns.....16 digits.... What you need to do is mount a small switch on the case to select row 3 or row 4. from the chip output. When row 4 is selected, you use the row 3 keys.

This is the 21st century after all.... | | Actually many of us do, nearly everyone using commercial gear. I just | purchased a brand new model Kenwood TK-3180 (first sold new in | August-04, definitely making it a 21st century radio). VERY nice | radio, but only has a 12-button pad, as do most commercial rigs. At | least on the 3180 you *can* twisty-knob your way to the optional four | keys, but not very conveniently. How many buttons are on an HT1250 or | 1550? ...and how many Amateur rigs are made that cover 900 MHz? | | If you can't do it in twelve keys... it's not worth doing, IMO. | | -K9DC | | | | | | | | | | Yahoo!
