Same story here! About 2 years ago the transmitter for my FM commercial station (10KW) went down VERY HARD!! My full-power backup was also dead due to completely different problems. So I had to run the station on 75 watts from an exciter.
We received only a few phone calls complaining. We have two translators, one heard our low power fine. The other was hearing a different station when we were on low power. It took me four days to get the main transmitter back on the air (including replacing the 100 Amp AC 3 phase fuse box!!) The back up transmitter never did come back to life and was recently parted out. It was a Collins made in 1968! A few weeks ago, I accepted delivery on a new 10 KW Harris FM/IBOC Split level system. ------ Original Message ------ Received: Fri, 31 Dec 2004 11:34:35 AM CST From: "Chuck Kelsey" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Years ago an FM broadcast station near here had their 5KW transmitter go > down.
