Was it originally a 25, or 40 watt version?? A 40 watt version at 15 
watts will most likely be spurious and inefficient (Motorola rates them 
down to 20 watts (50%)). The 25 watt version only draws a max of about 6 
amps at 13.8 VDC, so it will probably be about 4.5-5 amps at that level. 
The 40 watt version will draw more, (and I believe it will even generate 
more heat).
