Hi Russ, The DB-228 is one hell of an antenna.  There is one in use locally on the 145.210 KB3BLF machine north of Johnstown PA.  It is located on the top of a very large tower, and gives great coverage.   It is set to cardiod, and the null is set to protect the 145.210 WB8JGY repeaters coverage area in St. Clairsville Ohio.  It is expensive, but worth every penny.
