It's my opinion that some of you worry too much.
Just a few thoughts...
Original type certified equipment still operating within
the current legal specifications are not a major concern
with Inspection Officials (FCC and others) I've had
interactions with. I've even had them quickly pass over
non-certified equipment tested, measured and proved to be
operating within the current legal requirements. It's
the posture of the FCC that the licensed owner operator
of the equipment is liable for causing any interference
problems.
If you're doing nothing wrong, other than using older
commercial equipment it's a good chance the type acceptance
issue will never even pop up on the radar screen during
any normal site inspection.
Chances are also more than good that you'll never even be
contacted by an Inspection - Enforcement Official unless
there is some type of problem traced back directly to the
operation of your equipment or something major going on
at/near the site.
The FCC always seem to have much bigger fish to fry in the
Broadcast and Commercial Radio World. It's even semi rare
to be inspected outside the realm of the Broadcast World.
Most of the time, they're only looking for the current
license and proper public file information.
In short, I wouldn't and don't worry about a Motorola
Micor Type Acceptance Issue for GMRS Part 95 Operation.
Compared to some of the actual radio crap I've seen duct
taped and bailing wired down onto rack shelves, using a
good condition Micor Repeater for GMRS Part 95 Operation
is probably going to be the least of your problems.
Cheers,
Skipp
