Just for chagrins, why use a diode?
I simply float the battery across the bus.
No diodes, no relays, no problems :)
Better use an isolation diode...
The linear Astron supplies I have worked on have a "crowbar"
on the output. If it fires, it will foldback the supply causing no problem,
but also put a dead short across the battery!! Not cool..
