After we released the RLC-1, we sold quite a few RLC-1/RLC-6 combinations. We even had the rack cabinet set up to hold them both. It worked really well for controlling a repeater and up to three links or remote bases. For the cases where the built-in hub/chain linking modes weren't flexible enough, we made an editor for the lookup table eproms (still available from <http://www.link-comm.com/ftp/rlc6/>, but please don't ask for support on it). We developed the RLC-4 as a replacement for the RLC-1/RLC-6 combination, for about the same price. The major advantages of the RLC-4 were that it could run multiple repeaters (the RLC-6 couldn't do repeaters) and disabled link ports could be turned on from the link side (the RLC-6 couldn't do that, because when a link port was turned off, its audio couldn't get through to the DTMF decoder on the RLC-1). Of course the RLC-4 also had separate tone generators, DTMF decoders, keyup delay (kerchunk) filters and timers for each port, autopatch support, etc, so demand for the RLC-6 dropped off pretty quickly.
