I have replacement Astron PS Regulator boards
for sale, which have improved pre-regulation,
pre-driver transistor heat control and a revised
crowbar circuit. Drop in exact replacements
for most of the larger Astron Supplies. They
run about $45 each at last pricing.
It's almost a wash now as Astron did improve
their circuit (and pc board) with the
pre-regulator and some crowbar circuit mods.
I don't know if they revisited the driver
regulator heat problem. Last price compare
they are about the same.
I'm not really in the business of selling these
boards. I've sold a fairly large number to my
commercial customers and some hams here from
the group. I have never had one come back...
or a complaint about the suspect power supply
once the board was installed.
Astron is very good about parts, you can get
their board or mine, now pretty much the same
unit. I've send copies of my circuit revisions
to Astron and they appear to have used some
of the related information in their current
line of regulator pc boards.
One last thing... you must order the ps board
per the size/type of Astron PS you have. They do
not interchange from supply size to a different
supply size.
