We had a similar problem on our club 145.29 Mhz repeater. A scanner in the
town building close to the repeater site was programmed to receive the local
rescue helicopter frequency of 155.385 Mhz. 155.385 minus the 10.7Mhz IF of
the scanner makes a signal of 144.685Mhz, very close to the repeater input
frequency. This was a tough one to find, as everytime the scanner went past
the 155.385 frequency, it put a spike on the repeater input. Quite by chance,
a member with a scanner noticed the interference got worse when he heard a call
for the helicopter being broadcast. After we figured it out, we located the
scanner and fixed the problem.
