By support chips, I mean the "other IC's" within 
the module itself. Along with the personality
EPROM's, there are 14 or 15 other IC, mostly on
the first board (the one with the edge connector).

Make sure that they are all in place. I haven't
had mine apart in years, but they should all be
soldered in, as in NOT socketed.

Do you know of anyone close to you with a 2310
that would let you try your storage module in their
machine? There might be nothing wrong with it?

First thing to get is the COMPLETE operators manual
for the 2310. This give you the breakdown of all
the modules. Without the manual, making repairs is
difficult at best.
