At this time they still have the parts distribution, but the word that has been at our annual meetings is that they will diminish it in a large way. Where they mess up is with the shipping, order $50.00 worth of parts that weighs no more than a pound, and they want $7.00 to ship it. They ship by the price and not the total weight, but we have been told they are killing it. For example, try to order a needle now for a record player and you will see they will tell you to check in store stock, same goes for the odd cordless phone batteries. Trust me, I order from them all the time for our store, and they are dimishing, but will tell you the interest is still there. A few months back they offered all their instock componets at 20 to 50% off, told us it was an attempt to drive up sales that did not work. I can list a number of sku's that has not had sales in nearly 4 years, and that is how these items end up in RSU. But it is dying, as
stated by Dave Edmondson, CEO, and Paul Rickles has no intentions of driving sales for the EE field, not has any intentions of promoting amateur radio ever again.

Mathew,I just got off the telephone with a Radio Shack Rep in Dallas. Rep said they are still in the commercial component business. She did mention a few years ago they dropped a kit building product but RS is still selling industrial components and going strong. She suggested viewing their web site www.radioshack.com. I just did and they still have the commercial parts section. Its in the upper right hand corner of their website front page. Being components are difficult to find as we all know. So if you ask questions they just might have it. I certanily would not exclude them from the rolladex file card holder just yet. I have no involvement or interest in Radio Shack but there is a lot of people like me who still occasionally need parts. RS commercial just may have it.
