I love seeing the zzyzx road sign when we go up for the baker to vegas race each year. I did a bit of research and if you search for Tonopah & Tidewater railroad which served the area in the early 1900's you will also find some info, there are some interesting repeater sites that I have found (two way and tv translators) while roaming around the high desert area north of baker.
