Heh.... I think you're opening a can of worms with your question! My opinion is that if you get a good quality switcher (like a Samlex), it'll work fine. Some of the cheaper ones can emit rf noise, and that is why some people will not use them. Switchers are more energy efficient, lighter and at least as reliable as a linear supply. If it works for you, then great!
