Hello Jim! The Lancaster Amateur Radio Club -and myself are using these radios in repeater service and they have been fantastic! We are using them for not only the exciter, but for our receivers as well.I purchased all the equiptment from a company called Epcomm Communication down in Texas.Their phone number is 1-915-533-5119 and ask for April Rodriguez.I was so impressed with these ICF-121,221 radios,I purchased 70 of them for the local municipality I work for when it was time to rebuild our radio system for our Highway Dept.As a matter of fact,the new highway repeater I built for the department is made up of two of these 121-s radios with a TE systems commercial amp.It plays just like our ham repeaters-day in and day out with no problems at all! Epcomm sells the radios,the programming software and cable,and the OPC-617 cable you need for each radio to hook it up for repeater service.Run the exciter at 5 watts to drive a amp and they will live a long happy life.Plan on running bandpass filters on the receive side-especially if you are putting them in a high rf enviroment.Sometimes you can get away without one,but the system will perform better on the receive side with one inline.   I hope this info is helpful.   73 Scott  KB2TRQ YAHOO!
