I also sent an e-mail to Yahoo itself. Never got a reply, but sometime on Wednesday or Thursday everything went back to normal. I'm sure that they investigated it and took steps to fix things.
I had not made any changes to my system at all over the past 8 days. Yahoo is definitely not my primary e-mail service either; I only use it for the YahooGroups, but 35-40 seconds to read, delete, or move every message was getting more than a bit painful, especially on days when there are 30+ messages to go through.
