I've not see a perfect "out of the box" tower mounted 
rx preamp assembly... yet.  Some are good and well 
designed, but none have been perfect.

You must provide moisture control, I've seen both 
heaters and fed inert gas used.

The average Joe... yes.  But if one were to do the 
proper homework... and spend the money on the proper 
equipment you need only climb the tower to install 
the assembly once.
