Hi David, 

The answers in order...  you can quickly test the line by 
placing a signal through it and measuring the results. I 
would say you should check the line at both Tx power 
level and Rx low levels. Based on my experience with some 
lines, a good tx power loss value doesn't mean the low level 
rx value is usable.  You don't want to stick a big resistor 
in line with your receiver to antenna path. 

The best way to determine the required connectors would be 
to get a picture of the line to some of us who can probably 
tell you what the line is by looking at it. 

Think about cutting away a small portion of the outside jacket 
and talking a picture of the line end with a ruler next to it in 
a well lighted area. Any lettering on the jacket also helps 
id the brand/type of line.
