Further info on innards of the Celwave 66-88 pass reject cans.....to move to 6m
I cut a can at the 24 inch mark... If I had of moved down lower I
could have kept better stability as there is a foam spacer inside I
wish I was cut below... Next time but one had to be the first....:-)
The cans are 6" in diameter and bright copper inside, overall length
48 inches and have an adjustable tuning core which is about 1 1/4
inches in diameter. The core lengthens as the tuning rod is turned
in. As it is not silver plated inside it would seem that adding 18
inches to both the inside core and outside can should move it into
the 50-54 mhz area with no trouble..
Is it this simple???? I found some rolled sheet copper readily
available 19"@ 10 feet for about 60 bucks.... 23 gauge.... and ordered a roll.
The tuning core is 1.250 outside OD so I figure I can add some 1.250
ID copper tubing or EQ and lengthen it pretty easily and then silver
solder in place. I plan to roll a tube and copper rivet and solder
the can lengthener in place with silver solder outside... Anyone see
any gotch'a to this plan?
It seems pretty straight forward, just need the materials..
Thoughts?
