They all funnel into one pipe / one server.

Yes, but Pathetic Bell (aka Pacific Bell) lost the payment,
and shut off the DSL. Once I produced the receipt number
and they backtracked the transaction they discovered that
it got applied to the wrong account... (that's official excuse
#23 and they are sticking to it)...

They promised to turn the DSL back on in 4 hours or less.
24 hours later it was still off. And the dis-service rep was of
no help, and when I asked for compensation she got all huffy,
like it was MY fault.

Naturally Yahoo has killed every group due to the bounces,
so I have a 24 hour hole in my searchable email....

Anyway they killed the DSL sometime after 4:21am on the
15th (the time stamp on the last incoming message), they
had proof of payment by 9am, and the next piece of email
in the server log is 6:14 tonight.

Typical service from the phone monopoly whose sales
pitch on ignore says (over and over and over and over
again...) "We value your business".

Yeah, right.

So why can't they send an email or make a courtesy
phone call before they cut off service to someone that
has 43 years of service at the same street address, and
the same phone number (if you ignore the two area code
splits) ?
