Some of you Telco guys know what a "banana" is... a tone sniffer 
that works right through wire insulation to id phone pairs 
(typical) with a tone generator "wobbler" on one end. 

It's pretty much an lm-386 type circuit in some models with a high 
gain voltage probe sniffer circuit on the front end. In many cases 
the voltage probe sniffer circuit is just a fet stage. 

It hears almost anything close range... so you don't have to 
buy the Opto Electronics Near-field Receiver. Save your money for 
an extra Dayton Braut...
