When it comes to gain, the Diamond probably really has 8.3 dBi. The real difference between the two antennas is pattern shape (DB224 has a "cleaner" pattern; the dual-band antennas have deeper nulls below the horizon), and of course the mechanical ruggedness of the DB224. Bob NO6B
