I posted the comment about shiny antennas totally tongue in cheek and not to be taken seriously. A coating of aluminum oxide should have practically no effect on antenna performance. As far as particles vs waves, seems like some theory fits particles and other theory fits wave theory (Planks and Maxwells?) - I can get more info from our oldest son, AD5RN if needed - he is studying that kind of stuff down at Texas A&M..
