You will want to sign up for the AR902MHZ group here on YahooGroups. Lots of information (and experts) there in the Files area about what rigs will easily go to the 900 MHz ham bands, and for some radios, people have "kits" (for lack of a better word) of filters than need to be changed and/or firmware changes/programming "stuff" that will help. You have to ask on-list to find those folks. Not sure the 8712 will stretch to the ham band easily. The 9315 was closer to start with, and with proper modifications will be sensitive on receive in the ham band. There was some work on firmware for that radio going on in the last couple of years... I forget what it did... folks on the other list would know. It'd be a good place to re-ask your question. Nate WY0X
