When you are dealing with 1000ft towers and so much rf at the site. It only makes since to implement a diversity antenna system. Its only RF and if cellular can have diversity antenna circuitry so can we. Yes it takes a lot of resources and time but the payoff out weighs the cons and that's all worth it. If you could increase a receiver's sensitivity by 10db wouldn't you spend the time and energy to try it.
