Tom,

Check out Telewave's products. I recently put up a Hamtronics repeater on
220, and I installed a Telewave T-2230 single isolator on the transmitter
primarily to protect the 18 watt PA transistor. The very basic Hamtronics
PA has no protection whatsoever from high SWR or load mismatches, and it
also has no power control circuitry; its power output varies directly with
the supply voltage, and it is easy to toast the PA transistor. Visit
Telewave here:

Although an isolator is good insurance against IM, it also serves to protect
fragile PA transistors from an early demise.
