Actually, I've never thought that the issue is dissimilar metals, entirely. Similar metals are a problem too. I'll never forget the piece of Belden 8237 (copper braid and center conductor) that I had that made duplex noise when flexed. The noise problem comes from non-perfect current conduction between the various crossing and touching wires within the cable. Aluminum braid is no different, especially when touching another shield--the aluminum foil. Silver braided cables have little/no duplex noise because the braid wires have excellent conductivity between each other. Even better are the solid outer conductor cables such as Superflex/Heliax.
