Well we used a lot of Micor repeaters (UHF) with no problems and even still
have some in service. The one's we replaced we went with Kenwood TKR-840 and
one TKR-740 with no problems. Also have one Kenwood TKR-850 ver 2 with a
RC-210 controller on it on a GMRS channel and it works great.

But the Micro's we have in service still work and we have lots of spares.

  Subject: [Repeater-Builder] Possible poll question

Dear Moderator, I am new to this group and would like to know what the
most popular repeater maker is. Perhaps the group would participate in
a poll that would ask what the most popular repeater maker is or
something like that. My radio club is looking at replacing a 25 year
old Motorola Micor and needs some advice. Thank you, Bob Smith WB6ODR

My question to you Bob is… what is wrong with the Micor?

What kind of service does it need?

What kind of problems is it exhibiting?

Those repeaters are very good repeaters, and you should really be able to
repair it for many less dollars than buying a new one. Or, maybe you simply
want to replace it for the sake of getting something new?

  Something to think about.
