Dear Shorty,

I hear the wonderful audio you have on the WinSys and I want that on our
2 meter repeater. The radio has been in service for 25 years that we
know of and it could be older than that. We think we want to add an
IRLP port from a members home to the repeater via radio at his home. He
has it working on UHF right now but we are afraid that we will loose
that machine because our local coordination group says it is not
coordinated. I'm thinking that the technology has improved over the
last 25 years and we might get something that will last another 25
years. Also, we don't have a lot of room where we are located and I was
thinking that some of the smaller repeaters would give us a smaller
footprint in the 12 x 12 room we share with a commercial FM station and
the backup transmitter.

Dear Moderator, I am new to this group and would like to know what the
most popular repeater maker is. Perhaps the group would participate in
a poll that would ask what the most popular repeater maker is or
something like that. My radio club is looking at replacing a 25 year
old Motorola Micor and needs some advice. Thank you, Bob Smith WB6ODR

My question to you Bob is… what is wrong with the Micor?

What kind of service does it need?

What kind of problems is it exhibiting?

Those repeaters are very good repeaters, and you should really be able
to repair it for many less dollars than buying a new one. Or, maybe you
simply want to replace it for the sake of getting something new?

  Something to think about.
