DARCOM stands for Distribution Automation Radio Communication System

It is a Motorola SCADA product circa late 1980's. It is
synthesized. The operating frequency information is contained in a
PROM [externally programmed]. The synthesizer manual section,
6802938G73 contains a complete explanation of the programming.

The DARCOM 9000 system manual is 6802938G60.

The later DARCOM HR2 series radios are RSS programmed.

The stated operating frequency range for these units is 953.0 to
956.1 MHz.(range 1) or 956.6 to 959.7 MHz.(range 2) - "standard 3.6
MHz t/R spacing".

Yes, the duplexer does a 3.6 split at 900.

Other units in the product use tx 928-929 and rx 952-960. My guess
is they could be moved down to 902-928.

The unit pictured in the referenced ebay listing carries the model
number F2790A. The F2790A is actually a HSWO configuration
comprised of two transceivers, a hot switchover chassis, and a
duplexer with a total net weight of 97 pounds. The seller is
apparently breaking them down and selling the pieces.

At the time these were new I thought they might be an easy way onto
the 900 ham band but I never scored one. With MSF5000's being so
easy, I don't know if they would be worth the time today but the low
price is tempting.

Power output is 4 to 5 Watts before the duplexer so they might be
better as links.
