I have to agree on the Kenwood comment; we use Kenwood for our security team's downtown Cheyenne WY for our hotel and have had no problems as we are about a block from the local dispatch center for fire, police, EMS, and Sheriff. The intermod is hell to say the least. But no problems with the radios either on handheld or mobiles. I have my HT programmed for the local ham bands as well for skywarn and it works great.
