Frankly, looking at the big picture, with gas at $3/gal and a vehicle that gets about 18 MPG, I can easily cost-justify the extra $25 to ICM to make sure it's always "done right", since my closest repeater is a 50 mile round-trip from the house, and the furthest is over 100 miles round-trip.
