One of our local repeaters was upgraded to an APCO P25 machine earlier this week, I like the fact that this protocol supports conventional FM voice as well. Like others have posted, I look at things from an Emergency Communications/Interoperability standpoint as well. I caution any ARES/RACES group that is considering "going digital" to make damn sure you get it right, because you will only get ONE opportunity to mess up if you are needed.
