It won't hurt it. The 706 has a glitch in the PL encoder (there is no computer command to change the frequency), and despite several people pestering the ICOM reps at every SoCal based ham convention over the last few years they haven't fixed it (nor will they... "it's too old to worry about it" was the comment at the last one) Ken Arck AH6LE (of Arcom repeater controller fame) has a workaround. Ken - want to amplify/explain? Mike WA6ILQ
