There's been no indication anywhere that anyone's seen that Kenwood will be doing D-Star. They re-badge an Icom rig in Japan only, just to have the Kenwood name badge on it, and the reports from the highest representatives available at Dayton last year indicated that they had zero-interest in importing even that re-badged radio to the States and no plans to build any D-Star gear at the time. Icom took a huge risk building and designing something that is ONLY useful in Amateur Radio -- I doubt other manufacturers are as foolhardy with their development money they'd have to spend getting a D-Star radio to market. They'll build something that works in both commercial and Amateur services, or not at all... I wish them well, but I fear they'll never recoup their development costs. If other manufacturers jump into D-Star it would only make that situation worse. -- Nate Duehr, WY0X [EMAIL PROTECTED]
