Tony,

The cables used in the HKN9235 Internal Duplexer Cable Kit are not
fabricated to meet any technical requirement; they are simply made long
enough to fit with only a little slack. The GR1225 desktop repeater uses
the same cable kit, which you can purchase for about $40 from Motorola
Parts. If your GR300 has the standard factory-supplied mobile notch
duplexer, it will have N female connectors. Yes, the GM300 radio, just like
the R1225 radio, has mini-UHF connectors.

But wait! If you plan to make up your own cables, use only double-shielded
RG-400/U cable, and install the correct plug on each end- no adapters.

I had a brand-new GR-1225 VHF desktop repeater on my bench that had some
serious desense- more than 2 dB- and I traced the problem to the plain-Jane
RG-58/U coaxial cable used in the HKN9235 cable kit. RG-58/U coax is just
too leaky to be used for duplexer jumper cables. I made up new cables with
silver-plated connectors and RG-400/U cable, and the desense went away.

Subject: [Repeater-Builder] Motorola GR300 Housing - RF Cables used

Fellow Repeater Builders:

Does anyone know the length of the RF cables used in the GR300 repeater
housing? I'm expecting to take delivery of a used unit shortly, but
want to order a new set of cables in advance of delivery.

I need the following cable lengths. Thanks.

1) Tx radio to internal duplexer
2) Rx radio to internal duplexer

I believe the radio cable ends will need a mini UHF male, will the
duplexer cable ends need a N-males, UHF males, or BNC males? I also
want to order a cable from duplexer to antenna bulkhead.

Thanks.

Tony
