Hi Tedd, I think typically DIN connectors are used in higher power situations (EME comes to mind) where the relatively small amount of current carrying metal used for N connectors just can't support the power pushed through the contacting surface area. DIN connectors solve this by having a relatively large contacting surface area. For repeater use, I don't think DINs are necessary.
