Hi Bruce...

Unless a local shop has changed the locks, a Motorola 2135 key can be
your best friend. It will open up almost everything. A backup would be
a 2553 to open almost all the rest.

Usually mobile locks aren't changed,. Shops sometimes changed the
remote Base Station and Repeater locks to keep competitors from using
their units for convenient "parts supply" at remote sites. In these
cases you are on your own.

As for a candidate for a good project...you should ALWAY get the unit
operating on it's original frequency before thinking about spending $
on it. The "corrosion" you describe should be checked to see if it
affected the circuitry and I would be leery of the fact that internal
connectors are undone.

Micor's are great radios but we have come a long way since then. The
cost of multiple crystals will far exceed what you might spend on a
"newer" programmable unit, especially for mobile use. That being
said...if you can "find" someone who has "old" channel elements on
frequency and maybe a nice system 90 control head, it might be a fun
learning project.

Enjoy the hobby and congratulations on your new call!
