I would expect that... why don't you open up the radio mic and 
see what  type of circuit or element is there..?

You started at the wrong end of the horse... try looking at 
the information and/or diagram that came with the radio... even 
the spec sheet or the data sheet for a replacment ADI mic if 
it's available.
