The PA failure was probably related to a problem starting in
the Harmonic Filter section, especially if you have the early

of duplexers, got them all tuned and when i fired the repeater up I
head a crackle noise very faint when it would ID ,, so I keyed a
radio to see how the repeater heard more and while listing to the
speaker on my r2600 I heard more major noise (sounding like a loose
connector causing so i changed all cable with new one and still no
luck ) I did not think it come from my transmitter it was working
great that morning. so little more testing and a little more after
that I just could not pin point the problem. I removed all cables
from repeater and put the amp out of the picture.. than I used the
local PTT and listened nothing , so i waiting thinking what Next,,
keyed the TX again and there was the noise..So i took the exciter
output in the service monitor and it was clean no noise at all
looked on the monitor and there was no movement in rf at all when
the PA was hooked up ..stayed at 50 watts on the meter..not thinking
this is noise come from the amp.. but i opened it up and what a mess
inside I saw. resistor loose and solder melted all over.....has
anybody ever come across this are the msr2000 PA notorious for
tearing up..???
