Aluminum gives directivity and pattern - GAIN comes from EIMAC. I suspect manufacturers like bigger numbers - makes hams think they are getting more - I often ask the question of how a commercial antenna (DB304) can cost over $1000 and a higher gain ham quality antenna less than $100 - something has to be missing...Steve NU5D
