It might be OK as a rx, but it's pretty much a forgone conclusion it will not duplex. I have an MCX90 sitting on the shelf, and it does seem to have a reasonable rx in it-it even has the famous Micor bi-level squelch! (Or at least a really good copy.) I would expect it to be at least as good as a Maxar-80, probably better. But I wouldn't use it as a transmitter-almost no heatsink on the PA... Seems like it might make a good link/remote base radio though.
