Hi Ray: I have a pair of Midland, 13-509 radios which are the same as Clegg FM-76, I use for link radios. They are great radios, even though they're getting a little old, they are easy to work on, and many 220 repeaters have been made out of these radios. The two main drawbacks for using a Clegg FM-76 radio, is a pair of TX/RX crystals cost $30- $40 for each frequency pair, and the radio did not originally come with a TX PL board. So it does not take very long to have more invested in crystals and a PL board than a new synthesized radio costs.
