I've tried several methods of weatherproofing this antenna over the years - none of which helped. My conclusion is that the antenna is a relatively poor performer on a good day. Add rain, snow or ice and it fails miserably. You will not see this antenna in service in a commercial application, at least not a critical application. That tells you something.
The antenna is popular to hams because it is marketed to hams and is inexpensive. The best thing I ever did with it was to throw it in the junk.
