I use the MC2 connectors with the stinger. I trim the stinger back to about
1/2in. Then I affix an N barrel connector to the stinger with a pl259
ferrule. This make a real good connection. I wouldnt want to use something I
could not depend on at 850ft in the air.

I am not sure what size cable the MC2 you mentioned are for, but I used
a standard 1/2 inch hard line connector for 50 ohm cable on some 72 ohm CATV
cable by adding a brass sleeve to the center conductor. My CATV cable was
aluminum center conductor with copper plating, and the brass sleeve I obtained
from a hobby shop fit the center conductor OD and was the right size for the
connector ID. I swett soldered the brass sleeve to the center conductor and it
assembled just fine. It has all been playing for about 5 years now.
