Ray, It seems a shame to use a full-duplex radio, complete with an internal controller, as a base station- but it will work. Since the R1225 has separate TX and RX connectors- the rear one is TX and the front one is RX- you will need to install a T/R relay in order use a single antenna.
Motorola makes a "Retrofit Kit" to add the front panel and cables to an R1225, making it just like the GR1225 but without the cabinet and power supply. The kit is HLN3100A, and it costs about $105 from Motorola Parts. The panel has the display, controls, and a speaker, and you use a standard Radius microphone with it. You will need HVN9054 RSS to program the R1225; no other RSS will work. You will also need the standard Radius/MaxTrac programming cable and a Radio Interface Box, aka RIB. I'm curious: What is the model number of this radio? It will look something like M43GRC90C2AA, but some characters might be different. 73, Eric Lemmon WB6FLY -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of skydiver297 Sent: Sunday, October 05, 2008 2:02 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [Repeater-Builder] R1225 Radio Just received a R1225 radio. No duplexer or power supply with this radio. No GR1225 Housing, just a basic radio. Want to use the radio as just a base station, no repeater. Couple of questions. How can I control this radio? Does it have a remote head for it? Remember, it did not come with the GR1225 Housing that has the controls built in it. The front and back of the radio have coax connections. I am guessing the back connection is for the antenna, what is the front one for? Thanks for helping out a newbie. Ray
