I was working on a MVP last week for a replacement and came up with the TIP42 which should do the job.

Hi, this is a pnp transistor GE # 19A116375P1 that is driven by the
ic to make the 10 volts. Any similar transistor rated at 40 volts
and 3 amps or more should work. -Jon-
