Al,

Why do you think that? Everything in a Saber radio is done in the RSS,
since there are no pots to adjust! The most common issue with audio levels
I have seen in Saber and Astro Saber radios always seems to be the wrong
bandwidth (narrow versus wide) or companding turned on when it should be
off, or vice-versa. Unfamiliarity with the programming seems to be a common
factor. Mike gain could be misadjusted.

One thing to check- I know it sounds silly, but I have found this in a few
radios- is to ensure that dirt or gunk is not clogging the tiny hole in
front of the microphone element. I once had a new Motorola HT750 with
abnormally low audio level on transmit, and I found that the front adhesive
label- which should have a hole in it for the mike- was incompletely punched
at the factory, leaving a nearly invisible piece of plastic film covering
the hole! Some careful surgery with a needle extracted the plastic piece,
and normal operation was restored.

Subject: [Repeater-Builder] OT Motorola Saber

I have a UHF Saber that everyone says is low in audio. Does anyone in the
group know how to adjust the audio. I do not believe it's done in the
software.

Thanks, Al
