Huh? Trunking only means that several repeaters are controlled and 
coordinated as to use, and there are many repeaters that operate with 
much less than a 1 MHz separation. Yes, the equipment is larger, but it 
can be and is done all the time. So, it is technically possible to do it 
there. Now, legal issues are another matter...

I didn't address the original post since I knew there were many 
different bands for CB in different parts of the world. There have been 
four in the USA alone (and still are two - Class D on 27 MHz and Class A 
on 462/467 MHz... AKA GMRS). I think the Class C (remote control) band 
still exists, too. That uses the 'unused' CB channels on 27 MHz. To 
complete the info, Class B was a 465 MHz AM single channel band. Now, 
trunking or repeaters there would be a little 'difficult'. ;->
