There are two squelch circuits in a 5000. One is the repeater Squelch that is a single noise detector circuit. Similar to the Squelch Gate squelch circuit in a Micor repeater. The receiver audio squelch is a bi level squelch circuit that has fast closing. The RX squelch controls the receive audio, repeat audio and line audio.
